Are you ready to unlock the edge that will accelerate your tech company’s growth?

The Metro Vancouver region in Canada is North America’s 5th fastest-growing tech market, and a cost-effective, talent-rich place to scale. Just hours from Seattle, it offers world-class expertise, entrepreneurial energy, and an unbeatable lifestyle.

That’s why Seattle-based firms are heading north. Join them and tap into the ideal mix of affordable, skilled talent and momentum to fuel your next stage of growth.

Your Dollar Goes Farther

Not only have companies founded in the Seattle area like Microsoft, AWS, and Highspot found great talent in Metro Vancouver – they may have found it at a 40% discount compared to Seattle hires.

According to 2025 research from CBRE, operating a 500-person tech firm in Vancouver costs about $41.6 million per year, including rent and wages.

The same operation would cost $71.8 million in Seattle. Most of the difference is attributable to labor costs: senior developers in Canada, for example, earn less than their US counterparts, and the exchange rate makes their Canadian dollar salaries a bargain for US firms.

What Seattle Tech Companies Say About Metro Vancouver Talent

Concerned that lower costs might mean lower quality? Don’t be. American firms in the Metro Vancouver region are thriving thanks to top-tier talent that is driving growth and expansion.

Speaking to Invest Vancouver, an HR Director at Microsoft Vancouver said, “The Metro Vancouver region has all the right ingredients necessary for a thriving tech ecosystem where talent chooses to grow, develop, and flourish. Access to this kind of high-quality talent is why Microsoft chose to invest in this region, and we would absolutely recommend this region to a peer tech company.”

Metro Vancouver is known for its high-quality talent, with strengths including cleantech, AI, semiconductors, and gaming. This pipeline is fueled by leading educational institutions like the University of British Columbia and supported by welcoming immigration policies.

Lumotive, a Redmond-based semiconductor company, echoes Microsoft’s confidence in Metro Vancouver’s talent and ecosystem.  “Vancouver not only solved our talent challenge but also provided an active and collaborative ecosystem,” said the General Manager of Lumotive’s Canadian corporation. “It’s at a stage of growth where companies can interact meaningfully, much like the Bay Area in its earlier days.”

A Lifestyle That Attracts Talent

A key reason that top talent chooses Metro Vancouver is its exceptional quality of life. The city ranks #1 most liveable in North America and #10 globally on the Economist Intelligence Unit’s 2025 Global Liveability Index (Seattle came in at #34).

Metro Vancouver is a vibrant cosmopolitan hub that celebrates diversity, welcoming all cultures and international heritages.

And, like all the Pacific Northwest, the region is a beautiful place to live. But it is also much more.

Metro Vancouver innovators are inspired to push boundaries and create meaningful impact. Whether scaling a mountain or scaling a startup, those drawn to the region aren’t just looking for a place to work — they’re looking for a place that fuels their passion for adventure.

Connected, Competitive, and Ready

Metro Vancouver offers a business climate designed for growth. Companies benefit from generous R&D tax credits, grants, and government support that fuels innovation.

Connectivity is another advantage: the Vancouver International Airport has non-stop flights to 35 US cities and 40 other international destinations, keeping customers and partners within easy reach. Canada’s trade agreements also open doors to over 1.5 billion consumers across 51 countries, covering more than 60% of global GDP.

Add to this Canada’s reputation for stability and safety — ranked 2nd in the G20 for ease of doing business — and you have a region where companies can focus on what matters most: innovation and growth.
