The city you’ve been missing has never had more to SEA.

Presented by Visit Seattle By Brooke Strickland November 26, 2025

This year, many of Seattle’s favorite celebrations are back, beckoning city residents and visitors alike to immerse themselves in some of the traditions and activities that make this time of year so special. Rediscovering the magic of downtown Seattle during the holiday season means taking the time to slow down and appreciate all the festive touches that make the city feel familiar yet renewed.

One thing is certain: there’s never been more to see and do in Seattle.

Activities and Events

Downtown is home to a multitude of holiday happenings. Whether it’s bringing the whole family to see George Balanchine's The Nutcracker® at Pacific Northwest Ballet, taking in the festive lights and seasonal treats at Pike Place Market, or bundling up to ice skate in Occidental Square, there is fun at every turn. The Argosy Cruises Christmas Ship Festival™ and the Diving Santa at the Seattle Aquarium are fantastic options for bringing your loved ones together, and with 2026 on the horizon, Alaska Airlines New Year's at the Needle invites guests to ring in the new year with a stunning fireworks display.

Shopping

You’ll find everything you need on your holiday shopping list in downtown Seattle. Know an artsy someone? Arte Noir features curated prints, beauty products, jewelry, and more, all crafted by Black artists. Discover more handcrafted gifts at Seattle Glassblowing Studio in Belltown, and celebrate our local pride at Made in Washington, located near Pike Place Market. Of course, the downtown retail district’s major department stores never miss, but you’ll also find antique malls and tiny stalls throughout the Market. Or venture into the neighborhoods for unique finds at local favorites like Prism in Ballard, Sairen in the Chinatown-International District, or Freeman in Capitol Hill. For holiday-specific shopping, set aside a few hours to peruse the Seattle Christmas Market at Seattle Center through December.

Culinary Adventures

If your holiday adventures have worked up an appetite, don’t forget to taste your way through the area. Local chefs delight food enthusiasts of all ages with their creative dishes and fresh flavors found only in the Pacific Northwest. Try Otium Grill & Greens for an innovative meal atop the Astra Hotel, visit Daniel’s Broiler for an upscale steakhouse experience, or take a tasting tour through Pike Place Market with Savor Seattle Tours. For dessert, Molly Moon’s newly opened location on the waterfront boasts gorgeous views and seasonal flavors, and your nightcap is waiting at Hilton Motif’s rooftop bar Frolik or WeRise Wines in Belltown.

The Emerald City never stops changing, and that’s what makes rediscovering it so amazing. Whether you’re looking for family fun, a memorable date night, or an evening to catch up with friends, downtown Seattle invites you to connect with its many unique parts – each of them bound to keep you coming back time and time again.
