For generations, Native art has been appropriated by non-Native people without credit or compensation. Eighth Generation’s work directly challenges the harmful pattern of appropriation and unfair compensation through their industry leading artist royalties and working with contemporary Native artists to create authentic Native art. From wool blankets inspired by traditional weaving techniques or a pair of earrings that reflect ecological knowledge and beauty, every product Eighth Generation offers has been designed by a Native artist, so you can enjoy Native art authentically. When you support Eighth Generation, you’re not just buying beautiful goods, you’re investing in a future where Native artists thrive.

Eighth Generation partners with Native artists around the country to design, manufacture, and market goods that are intended for anyone and everyone, Native and non-Native alike. By doing this, they are boldly reclaiming control over the market for products showcasing Native art and the beautiful stories and ancestral knowledge that go with them. Eighth Generation is best known for their wool blankets, where they currently have over 20 designs by Native artists to choose from. They also make several of their products in their studio in Georgetown, including their Gold Label Collection of luxury Merino wool blankets and scarves. Additionally, they offer a collection of USA-made products, including their 100% cotton throw blankets.

Their brand also includes a variety of home décor, accessories, kitchenware, and stationary that are beautiful and functional. Caring for Mother Earth is a foundational Native value, one that Eighth Generation holds deeply. Their Waymaker and North Winds series are two collections of sustainably-made wool blankets that are woven and produced at vertical mills in Norway and the UK. Further, their best-selling water bottles and tumblers are BPA-Free and made from 100% recyclable stainless steel, while their stainless-steel lunch boxes are reusable and feature a secure-sealing bamboo wood lid.

While the majority of Eighth Generation’s business is done online, it has a modern flagship store in Downtown Seattle, just steps from Pike Place Market on First Avenue. Step inside their store and transport yourself to a world where Native art and tradition meets modern design. Choose from over 50 one-of-a-kind accessories, varying from luxurious silk scarves and shawls to gorgeous jewelry and enamel pins. Eighth Generation’s products vary in designs, colorways, and stories—from bold to subtle, Eighth Generation has made it easy to incorporate authentic Native art into your home, no matter your style.  Learn more and shop at eighthgeneration.com.
