Join us for fun-filled weeks in the Pacific Northwest! Whether you’re looking for something to add to your Washington spring break lineup, or want to visit some other time this spring, there is something for everyone! With museum admission, experience all the below exciting opportunities.

EDU Lab: Join our education crew for hands-on fun! Drop by the Ford Room between 11:15am-12:15pm to play or craft. Sundays are dedicated to board, card, and movement games with a maritime or local twist, some even created by our crew. Tuesdays are for crafting, and we’ll be creating a shadow box keepsake. Materials provided but limited.
Gallery Docents: Available in one of the galleries to answer questions and share stories about maritime history during spring break from 10:30am to noon.
Lightship Columbia: Climb aboard and explore this national historic landmark that once guided ships to safety at the mouth of the Columbia River. Open daily from 11am to 3pm, the vessel functioned as a floating lighthouse to mark the mouth of the Columbia River from 1951-1979. It’s been a part of the museum since 2022 after it underwent an extensive dry dock restoration program.
Katy Menne, Education Director at the Museum shared, “Stepping aboard the Lightship Columbia often marks a first for many visitors, sparking wonder as they explore the ship’s history and imagine life aboard. From the engine room to the crew’s quarters, each corner tells a story, inviting both seasoned sailors and newcomers to connect with the past. Whether through hands-on tours or virtual experiences, there’s something for everyone to discover.”
Comfort Cart: Chat with crew members about all the ways to enjoy our exhibits. The crew will be in the main entry area near the Shipwreck Chart from 10:30am– noon on Mondays and Saturdays. Items are always available, just ask at the front desk!
Scavenger hunt: Embark on a mini adventure throughout the museum or on the accommodation deck of Lightship Columbia. Prize stickers can be collected upon completion. The Ford Room will be set up with coloring pages and B/B Sea Reads for you to enjoy at your convenience.

Exhibits: The Cedar and Sea exhibit features the voices of contemporary Indigenous artisans from Yakutat, Alaska to southern Oregon. Museum-goers can learn about the various tools and implements fashioned from stone, bone, shell, wood, and other natural materials, representing thousands of years of innovation. The This Is Our Place exhibit is put on in partnership with the Chinook Indian Nation, which introduces visitors to Chinook maritime traditions and cultures through the photographic lens of Amiran White.

Caroline Wuebben, Director of External Engagement at the Museum said, “The Columbia River Maritime Museum offers something for everyone—whether you’re a history enthusiast, a curious traveler, a fisherman, or simply someone eager to explore the fascinating maritime heritage of the region.
