Seeking an outdoor thrill on the slopes? Mt. Bachelor in the spring is the place to be! Only 18 miles from Bend and 22 miles from Sunriver, it takes just 30 minutes to get to the mountain. Known for having one of the longest ski seasons in North America, spring is a great time to ski the entire mountain, enjoy biking around town, and hit one of the area’s beautiful golf courses. All 4,323 acres of terrain are scheduled to be open every day, weather permitting, through mid-April. After mid-April, more than 1,500 acres will remain open daily through Memorial Day Weekend.

The region also boasts a variety of beautiful hotels, breathtaking golf courses, award-winning restaurants, unique breweries, and lots of springtime special events. So, when you’re ready to get out of the snow, you can head back into town for some entertainment.

What’s Happening This Spring at Mt. Bachelor:

Big Wave Challenge, April 4-6:
Inspired by Gerry Lopez’s passion for surfing and snow, this is the 13^th year of the snowboarding contest. It’s held on a custom-built course featuring a series of huge sweeping banked corners, quarter pipes, and spines, incorporating the natural terrain as much as possible. The result is a series of wave-like features linked up along a flowing course that brings the surf to the mountains.

Subaru Winterfest, April 11-13:
Mt. Bachelor and Deschutes Brewing are bringing back Subaru WinterFest , a unique music and mountain lifestyle tour celebrating winter and adventure. This event features live music, Subaru swag, the latest adventure gear, free snacks and drinks, fun activities for your pup, and amazing daily giveaways. Subaru Winterfest will be held at Deschutes Brewery on Simpson Avenue and will be headlined by Grace Potter.  

RendezVan, April 17-20:
RendezVan is a one-of-a-kind event celebrating the amazing community of RVers, campers, and van-lifers who make the annual pilgrimage to Mt. Bachelor in the spring. Families, skiers, riders, and all travelers are welcome – and dogs, too! Entrance to the festival center, including music, vendors, and activities, is free. RendezVan is a true celebration of van-culture, and what better way to celebrate than having over 4,000 skiable acres to enjoy right outside your door!

Snow Beaches:
Every weekend in May, there will be ‘Snow Beaches’ outside of West Village featuring live music and an area for those to get their goggle tan on. Enjoy craft beverages while you watch skiers and riders shred the springtime snow. 

Pond Skim and Closing Weekend:
Happening over Memorial Day weekend, this action-packed time is filled with events, including the popular Pond Skim. This event challenges more than 100 skiers and riders, most of whom are dressed in hula skirts and other costumes, to make it across the hundred-foot-long pond and compete for awards in several categories.

If you want to stay cozied up in your RV or camper, Mt. Bachelor has a variety of overnight camping options available, where you can find powered hook-up sites, hot showers, and beautiful views. Or gather around with family and friends after a day of bluebird skiing and riding before waking up to the alpenglow sunrise reflecting off Summit or the Three Sisters. During the spring, some of the best tailgating and story sharing happens right here in the West Village Lot.
