Six Reasons to Plan a Wellness Getaway to Whistler This June and Six Reasons June Is Whistler’s Peak Wellness Season

Our northern neighbor has a jam-packed June; they’ve dropped tickets for over 30 events as part of the Nourish Whistler Wellness Series.

Presented by Tourism Whistler May 7, 2024

Whistler’s chalet-style village doesn’t turn off the charm when the snow melts; a late spring calendar rings in a season focused on wellness, discovery, and connection. The British Columbia haven seamlessly merges thrill with tranquility—whether that rejuvenated bliss comes from meditative forest bathing or sunset paddle boarding on a pristine lake.

June adds a little structure with the Nourish Whistler Wellness Series: creative culinary endeavors, engaging masterclasses, and restorative nature experiences. Too many (there are over 30 events, after all) options? Our shortlist points to the very best Whistler has to offer this spring.

1. The Culinary

No one is going hungry thanks to over 150 restaurants across the mountain town. But some days are special: Small-scale Grillin’ and Chillin’ Barbecue Series brings summer-y libations and nosh to the lakeside every Saturday. The locale is tucked away from any weekend bustle: a short forest walk leads to grilled treasure. Sunday mornings boast a four-course Wellness Brunch Series overlooking Alta Lake. Capped at 20 guests, the intimate setting allows for face time with renowned chefs ready to share their seasonal tricks. For a more drink-forward and cultural experience, the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre leads tours of local herbs and medicinal plants followed by Indigenous tea tastings and Bannock.

2. The Community

A handful of signature events bring together everyone from the wellness curious to longtime experts. Just take the Soulstice: A Fresh Beginning event (June 21, 8pm at the Whistler Conference Centre). DJs spin tunes while aerial dancers and drag queens perform; a community mural, guided movement, and a self-care station round out the party experience—all powered by mocktails and creative snacks.

Food has a knack for bringing people together, right? Nourish Market (June 22, 7pm at the Whistler Conference Centre) brings a world of flavor to one tasting event. Eight chefs helm stations populated with healthy dishes, and their beverage counterparts hawk four sips to savor. Curious about what’s behind each health-forward plate? Their creators will share culinary philosophies and behind-the-scenes know-how.

Dr. Angela DeRosa, a leading voice in women’s health, hosts a talk on optimizing wellbeing and longevity through hormones. After learning about the history and safety of hormone therapy, likeminded attendees gathered for a three-course lunch.

3. The Active

If your ideal getaway includes communing with nature through movement, you’re in luck. Free Tai chi, Zumba, strength, and hip-hop dance classes meet in the shadow of the architecturally-impressive Audain Art Museum—and on the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre’s forest-side mezzanine patio. Birding walks and guided forest romps bring visitors into the heart of Whistler’s wild side.

4. The Inquisitive

Horizons expand in Whistler, and we’re not just talking about the views. A masterclass in fermentation introduces students to the magic of probiotics; students sample sourdough bread, cheeses, and kombucha while crafting their own sauerkraut. Attendees become mixologists in a mocktail masterclass, crafting sober sips as colorful as they are flavor-forward. In a lakeside paint and picnic workshop, local artist Andrea Mueller leads students through alcohol ink techniques.

Meanwhile, the Speaker Series brings experts to town: The nature immersion pros at Society of Trees share how to reap the well-being benefits of time outside; RuPaul's Drag Race star Gia Metric chats on self-discovery and authenticity; Dr. Deanna Gibson presents her groundbreaking microbiome research. Over lunch, health practitioners reveal the holistic wellness found at the intersection of Eastern and Western medicine.

5. The Introspective

Connecting with nature isn’t hard in the walkable village surrounded by towering peaks. Stroll to the Village’s art galleries or farmers markets, and relish in the absence of Slack pings. It’s second nature to reconnect with mind, body, and soul in this environment.

In June, experts add a welcome dose of structure and intention, facilitating connective experiences with the natural world. From a mindful forest bathing afternoon with a certified Forest Therapy Guide to the bowls, chimes, and gongs of a healing sound bath, June holds a wave of meditative experiences rooted in Whistler’s nature.

6. The Financial

Heading north is easy on the wallet too. The favorable exchange rate translates to savings, and June hotel offers come with wellness perks…staying longer just makes sense when you earn a $150 wellness voucher for staying over three nights. Nourish Whistler Wellness Series events will sell out…now is the time to craft the perfect itinerary. Careful, you might not want to leave.
