Milagro Tequila - A Proud Sponsor Of The Seattle Pride Parade

Celebrating 50 years of quality and diversity. Bringing Mexico City’s spirit of art and creativity to Seattle.

Presented by William Grant and Sons May 27, 2024

On June 30, Washington’s largest parade, the Seattle Pride Paradewill celebrate “50 years of Pride,” marking the 50-year anniversary since 200+ LGBTQIA2S+ people gathered publicly in Seattle as an act of collective resistance. It’s a celebration of equality and diversity and is expected to draw an even bigger crowd than last year, when there were more than 300,000 parade goers and 250 participating organizations.

Milagro Tequila was a proud sponsor of the parade last year, and is a sponsor of this year’s Pride in the Park, the June 1 kickoff to Pride Month in Seattle. From noon-7pm, Seattle Pride in the Park will feature a can’t-miss lineup of LGBTQIA+ performances, a dance-focused stage with an adjacent alcohol garden (21+), food trucks, local nonprofit booths, queer vendors, and more.

Milagro is within the portfolio of William Grant and Sons, the makers of Hendrick’s Gin, Glenfiddich Single Malt Scotch, Sailor Jerry Rum, among other brands. The company also supports the Human Rights Campaign through their volunteer-led Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team to push forward and support the equal rights of all people.

Milagro Tequila has its roots in the creativity and art of Mexico City

Milagro’s ethos is “The Brighter Side of Tequila,” founded on creativity, art and the vibrant and diverse culture of Mexico City, which celebrated its first Pride event in 1978. Today, Mexico City Pride, held over the last weekend in June, is the largest in that country. Milagro was born in that city in 1998 when two college friends teamed up with Pedro Juarez, one of the most distinguished Master Distillers in Mexico. For Pedro, creating a modern tequila meant taking full use of tradition - starting with the agave itself.

After decades of being restrained by cost efficiencies at some of the larger multinational tequila companies, Pedro finally was able to use his artistry to create his pinnacle accomplishment – a 100% blue agave tequila that encompasses the very definition of the freshest agave taste and exquisite smoothness.

The blue agave used to make Milagro is grown in the Jalisco highlands, a terrain known for the red, mineral-rich soil, sun-filled days, and mountain-crisp nights that allow the agave to grow large and full of sweet sugars. The agave is harvested at the peak of ripeness, then slow-roasted in traditional brick ovens, pressed to extract the sweet juice, and given a long fermentation time in stainless steel tanks.

All Milagro tequila is double distilled. The first distillation is done in a traditional pot still to capture the fresh, vibrant, mouthwatering flavors of the agave plant. At this stage, which is where most tequila distillers stop, the liquid still has some rough edges.  Milagro’s second distillation, in a column still, is used to “polish” and refine the liquid, a process that beautifully highlights the flavors and produces Milagro’s exquisite smoothness. The amount of time with which the tequila is aged determines its final expression — from the foundational Milagro Silver to Milagro Reposado and Milagro Añejo — each carrying the brand’s fresh, clean flavor. This brightness is balanced by a subtle peppery kick at the very end, adding a satisfying zing. Unlike some tequilas, Milagro delivers a smooth, almost creamy mouthfeel, with none of the rough edges found in other tequilas.

Celebration cocktails with Milagro Tequila

Milagro’s diverse range of 100 percent estate-grown blue agave tequilas includes options for big spenders and budget drinkers alike. In fact, it’s been on both “best inexpensive tequila” and “best expensive tequila” lists. Milagro Silver and Milagro Select Silver shine in the Freshest Margarita — in a Boston shaker, add two parts Milagro Silver, 3/4 part agave syrup, one part fresh lime juice, and ice. Shake, strain into a rocks glass with fresh ice, and garnish with a lime wedge.

Milagro Reposado is rested in American oak barrels for four months, developing delicious notes of warm caramel and vanilla, and subtle notes of spice. Reposado is delicious served neat, on the rocks, or in a favorite summer cocktail like the Paloma. This hot weather refresher lends itself to endless combinations and proportions, using only Milagro Reposado, fresh lime juice, grapefruit soda, and a pinch of salt.

Milagro Añejo and Select Añejo are aged for 12-14 months, resulting in tastes that are smooth, refined, and still agave-forward. Both are superb enjoyed neat, on the rocks with freshly grated Mexican chocolate or in a tequila-based Old Fashioned.

Milagro is a proud sponsor of Seattle Out & Proud Foundation (Seattle Pride), supporting Seattle Pride’s mission: to “Create unity, honor diversity, and achieve equal human rights throughout our region and the world.” Find your taste of Milagro on June 1 at Seattle Pride in the Park, the free, fun, community-wide celebration advancing awareness of LGBTQIA+ issues and promoting mutual respect and equal human rights for all.
