Long Beach Peninsula Hosts the Pacific Coast Running Festival this May

The stunning Washington coast offers guests the opportunity to unwind, unplug, and take in the fresh ocean air. But for outdoor enthusiasts, it’s also the ideal place to stay active and explore the unrivaled scenery of the Long Beach Peninsula and Pacific County.
The fourth annual Pacific Coast Running Festival is happening May 4-5, 2024, and is a great time to come and experience the Coast. The event has something for the whole family, too. So, no matter what your skill level is, everyone is welcome!

- Kids’ half mile or one-mile dash events: Let the kids work out those wiggles and get their energy out with these quick and fun events.
- Sunset 5K sand run and walk: There’s nothing like a Pacific Ocean sunset and this run and walk event will take you along the shoreline for views of the ocean as the sun goes down. Run or walk at your whatever pace feels most comfortable to you.
- Sand marathon: This new event is unique and allows runners to embrace the grit and wind that the Washington coast offers. Begin the run on Bolstad at the beach’s edge, then head south to Beard’s Hollow to turnaround and head north. This is where you’ll be able to take in the gentle sea breeze as you run toward Ocean Park.
- Half-marathon, 10K, and 5K run/walks: These courses begin and end at the iconic Long Beach Arch. Run along wide, paved, scenic bike paths that let you see and hear the Pacific Ocean.
- ‘Tour De Pacific’ bicycle tour: Grab your bike and hit the 12.6 mile course for this timed, non-competitive bike tour. It offers some incredible scenery that allows friends and family to ride parts of the half marathon course, while seeing the Peninsula as they travel to downtown Ilwaco and the Ilwaco Waterfront. The course uses much of the Discovery Trail as the course and is a supported event with water, energy drinks, fruit, and energy bars at water stations.

In addition to these exciting events, guests can experience a fun health and wellness expo that features vendors offering specials, samples, and many other local finds. There is also a beer and food garden available.
Close to both Seattle and Portland, the Long Beach Peninsula is a quick and easy escape from the hustle and bustle of life.
