Whether your idea of a good time is sea spray on your face as a tour boat follows gray whales or the warmth of a fireplace as you read “Moby Dick,” Surftides Hotel in Lincoln City offers the perfect getaway with low rates and a mystical coastal experience.
Adventure getaway

Whale watching:
Embark on an awe-inspiring adventure during Oregon's gray whale migration season as these majestic marine mammals journey 12,000 miles from Alaska to the Gulf of California. Join Whale Watch Week from Dec. 27-31 at 15 coastal locations, staffed daily by volunteers ready to assist you in spotting whales and sharing fascinating facts. Enhance your experience with a boat trip to marvel at the whales, seals and other marine life. Prime whale spotting locations in Lincoln City include Road’s End State Park, Northwest 21st Street and the cliff at SW 40th Street.
Storm watching: Nature's power is on full display along the coast in winter. Storm watching is a thrilling pastime, putting on a mesmerizing display of churning surf. From the oceanfront rooms at Surftides Hotel, witness the extraordinary king tides. These seasonal high tides, caused by the proximity of the moon, will occur Jan. 11-13 and Feb. 8-10, 2024.
Beachcombing: All that powerful surf brings treasures to the beaches. On peaceful days at low tide, go on a beachcombing adventure. Explore sandy expanses and scramble over rocks in search of agates, shells, jasper, coral and petrified wood. Renowned for its rockhounding spots, Lincoln City offers some of the best finds. December to March is prime season for agate hunting. Also, keep an eye out for beautiful glass floats, part of the Lincoln City's Finders Keepers project. Periodically, the floats crafted by local artisans are hidden along 7 miles of beach. If you discover a float, it's yours to keep. Finders Keepers opening weekend is Dec 30, 2023-Jan 1, 2024, when 100 floats will be deposited along the shore. A recent Surftides guest was one of the lucky people to find a float not far from the hotel.
