Presented by Sunriver Resort October 12, 2023

Explore one of the Pacific Northwest’s most mesmerizing winter wonderlands, colorfully aglow with merry festivities and a fun mix of indoor and outdoor activities throughout Sunriver Resort. This winter itinerary is your key to unlocking your favorite holiday season ever, from sleigh rides to ski slopes to yoga classes.

Day 1 - Sleigh Ride Magic & Holiday Lights

Give your vacation a merry start with a time-honored holiday tradition—an open carriage sleigh ride pulled by beautiful Haflinger horses. Each sleigh can comfortably fit four adults, plus two small children, so there’s room for the whole family to traverse the newly fallen snow in a way that’s timeless yet quaintly old-fashioned. Just pop over to Sunriver Stables, and be sure to say hello to all the off-duty horses. (Ask the handlers about the horses’ names and individual personalities!) Explore the grounds further and make your way to Gingerbread Junction’s wonderful display of gingerbread houses in The Lodge (December 9 - January 1). You can even make your own. Then it's time for a dinner of hearty farm-to-table favorites at Lodge Kitchen before the big show. Head to The Backyard Cafe & Bar to grab a warm after-dinner beverage and experience the magic of Sunriver Resort being transformed into a colorful wonderland with a spectacular Holiday Light Show set to festive music. Stick around after the show ends to stargaze in The Backyard (every Friday night) and see what makes Sunriver so special as an International Dark Sky Place.

Day 2 - Mountainside By Day, Barside By Night

Take the Sunriver Resort shuttle to Mt. Bachelor to hit its gorgeous snowy slopes, whether your preference is skiing or snowboarding, whether you're a novice or an expert. With a variety of runs, you're sure to find exactly what you need on the mountain. It’s always hard to say no to “just one more run,” so we know this tends to be a full day of fun. When you’re done with the mountain, retreat back to your room for a rejuvenating rest beside your glowing fireplace and then freshen up for dinner. After a day on the slopes, the right call is definitely craft pub fare and draft beers at Owl’s Nest. (Carbs have never been more deserved.)

Day 3 - Meditation, Nature & Fine Dining

Whether you're an everyday yoga practitioner or simply someone who's always been curious about yoga, settling in for a restorative yoga and meditation session at Sage Springs Club & Spa is one of the best ways to start your day. Feeling peaceful? Relaxed? Take that energy a step further, all the way to the Sunriver Nature Center, where a fun team of naturalists give our guests a family-friendly education about Sunriver’s local wildlife and the wilderness they call home. It’s a fascinating, fun experience for adults and kids alike, though the younger future scientists will surely get an extra kick out of Creature Cave and Exploration Ridge. Once the sun sets, enjoy a memorable dinner at The Grille at Crosswater, featuring finely crafted dishes made with the finest local ingredients, set in a charming setting reflective of the region.

Day 4 - Swims, Sports & Stars

While it may be a winter wonderland outside, it's a warm and toasty adventure zone in The Cove Aquatic Center. Splash around the heated indoor pool, add a fun ride or two down the indoor waterslide and take advantage of your rare chance to swim in the winter. Dry off and head for the indoor pickleball courts at Sage Springs Club & Spa to work up a sweat. Bounce back for a poolside lunch at The Spotted Frog, featuring a menu designed for vacation and a full bar that includes beer and wine from the Pacific Northwest. As it’s your final day of vacation, it’s time to hit the gift shop, either for a souvenir for yourself — it’s been a memorable trip! — or a souvenir for someone back home, just to let them know you were thinking of them.

So much wonder, fun and holiday magic await you this winter at Sunriver Resort. Book your stay today and start planning all the exciting and relaxing things you’re going to do.
