An ice cream paradise swirls to the heart of Seattle this summer: the Scooped Ice Cream Festival marries amusement park energy with the classic summer treat at Seattle Center’s Fisher Pavilion.

The tasting experience debuted last year with a veritable frozen promised land and returns for another round on July 8 and 9. This iteration brings fresh flavors—but no sneak peeks; they’ll remain a mystery until a week or so before the frozen wonderland opens. The biggest bombshell this year? Tickets are an all-you-can-eat pass boasting up to eight hours of nonstop scoops. Bottomless ice cream; say less.

Timed entry tickets—choose between noon, 2pm, 4pm, or 6pm—deposit ice cream lovers into a vibrant scene rife with sugar. Unlike last year, tasters aren’t limited to a two-hour time slot; the ticket time marks the start of an ice cream marathon that can last until 8pm.

Ten stations spread throughout the outdoor-indoor venue will dish out two-to-four-ounce scoops ideal for exploration. Indulging in a rooftop scoop overlooking the Puget Sound has never been tastier, or more varied. Over 75 flavors like last year’s caramel pretzel, ube, Thai tea, salted popcorn, and Maui waui might fill the festival docket. The wide-reaching menu comes from a variety of local vendors and national brands, leaving something new to be discovered by even the most seasoned ice cream fans. Long a local star, Full Tilt’s South Seattle scoops took the (ice cream) cake as last year’s fan favorite. Rumor has it they’ll be back.

If ice cream overload has visitors screaming for a palate cleansing or moment of rest between nonstop scoops, a handful of local DJs spin tunes and tailgate-style games offer entertainment. Giant chess, Connect 4, and cornhole keep the whole family engaged while onsite food trucks offer savory nosh—if you absolutely must stray from sundaes. Vendors hawk unique finds, ice cream related and not.

The whole family is welcome; along with vegan and gluten-free options, the festival boasts pet friendly treats for four-legged friends. Leash up Fido and bring everyone to the adventure. A Speed Scooper credential reminiscent of a Disney FastPass earns true ice cream aficionados a spot at the front of any tasting line for on-demand scoops.

But the festival offers more than just an abundance of treats in the cone-able variety: a milkshake eating contest pits slurpers against each other in a duel for ultimate bragging rights each afternoon. The winner of this absurd lactose-filled proving ground walks away with ice cream vouchers and hand scoops for at-home practice. The current champion downed 18 milkshakes in the allotted 20 minutes last year. The shakes are high.

Last summer’s inaugural Scooped Ice Cream Festival drew 6,500 ice cream fanatics from across Seattle, and this season’s soiree promises to be even bigger. New flavors, new entertainers, and more activities deliver a fresh experience. Entry to the ice cream wonderland can only be secured with an online ticket; no at-the-door sales means some advance planning is rewarded sweetly.
