Sunny days are becoming more frequent than rainy ones and everyone’s abuzz with excitement about being able to enjoy a little more of the great outdoors. Naturally, that means that we’re ready for a road trip. The destination? Oregon’s famed wine country, the Willamette Valley. Tucked among its landscape of lush greenery and grapevines are some of our favorite places to stay, sip, and savor.

Stay at The Vintages

Once you spot their cool, retro neon sign, you’ll know you’re at the right place. The Vintages Trailer Resort in Dayton is a unique property specializing in the quintessential glamping experience with a nostalgic theme — think pink lawn flamingos, champagne cocktails, and s’mores. They feature 36 fully restored and new custom-fabricated trailers situated along a tree-lined, twinkle-lit road fittingly named Pinot Lane. The resort also offers fun amenities such as fresh pour-over coffee, cruiser bikes, outdoor grills, a seasonal pool, General Store, and access to Fireside, a communal area with fire pits and comfy lounge seating. It’s the ideal location to stay while you explore.

Sip at Winter’s Hill Estate

When in wine country, drinking wine is going to be involved and it’s likely going to be Pinot Noir. One of our favorite places to enjoy this varietal is Winter’s Hill Estate in Dundee, which released their first vintage in 1998. They also offer Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and dessert wines so there’s a little something for everyone. Their vineyard is surrounded by beautiful fir and oak forests so you can soak in the sights while you sip. 

Fun Fact: The Vintages’ Signature Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris are produced in partnership with Winter’s Hill. Both can be purchased conveniently at the General Store in case you’d like to pop open a bottle while relaxing trailer-side. 

Savor at Red Hills Market

A hearty meal is a must before a day of wine tasting, and a popular go-to is Red Hills Market, also located in Dundee. On their menu, you’ll find wood-fired pizzas, sandwiches, and salads made with locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. Their market features artisanal goods and a wide selection of Willamette Valley wine and craft beer. While you’re here, don’t forget to order a fresh-baked cookie or two — one for now and one for later.
