Seattle’s Pioneering Food Production Scene

Charcuterie from Carl’s Cutting Board
You’ve heard of chefs and cooks, bartenders and mixologists. But what about the food and beverage producers? Chocolatiers and cheese makers? Hot sauce-ologists and popsicle artisans? Seattle is teaming with niche food and beverage producers just waiting to delight your palate.
On Friday October 14th, from 6:30pm-10:30pm, discover over 45 different Seattle-based food and beverage producers at the Taste of Seattle Made Party. Presented by Central Co-op and hosted at Metropolist in SODO, the Taste of Seattle Made Party kicks off with a tasting tour of unlimited food samples and 7 drink pours per ticket, and concludes with a DJ dance party, food trucks, and bar.

Come discover talented food and beverage producers like KuKuRuZa, a gourmet popcorn maker on a mission to deliver its exotic flavor sensibilities to folks around the globe. Or Batch206, which now ranks among the top 3 best selling distilleries out of the 100s teaming across Washington state.
KuKuRuZa, Batch 206 and many others are members of Seattle Made, a collaborative initiative determined to grow and support Seattle’s urban manufacturing and producer economy. Through the program, over 350 Seattle-based businesses, makers of everything from bikes to beer to biodiesel, are working together to find and share the resources they need to succeed. For instance, local food producers Kale Love and Hot Cakes share scarce production space with other seattle made food producers, and members regularly share tips on vendors, suppliers, and marketing and sales opportunities.

A Taste of Seattle Made is just one of many events during Seattle Made Week (October 7- October 16), a celebration of the huge variety of products made right here in Seattle, and the people who make them. Other events include the Seattle Made Market Day at KEXP, Brewers Night at Flatstick Pub, the Future of Urban Manufacturing at Outdoor Research, Demo Day at MOHAI, and other pop-ups and events at places like West Elm and Central Co-op. Details and tickets are available at seattlemade.org.
On Friday October 14th, join a community that works with your favorite grocery stores, restaurants, and farmers to add a fresh dimension to the concept of eating local. Come appreciate the collective talent of Seattle’s food and beverage producers, a thriving and important sector of Seattle's economy.
