Spill of the Day

K.C. Executive candidates (L-R) State Rep. Ross Hunter, State Sen. Fred Jarrett, and K.C. Council Member Larry Phillips
As PubliCola readers know, Erica has been posting a "Contribution of the Day" to track where the candidates for mayor, city council, and King County Executive are getting their money.
Expenditures aren't reported until the end of each month, so I know Erica is planning on doing an expenditure round-up on a monthly basis as well.
Based on PubliCola's interview with the four Democrats running for King County Executive yesterday, we think we've got a lead on a noteworthy expenditure: Either Ross Hunter or Larry Phillips is going to have to spend some money cleaning up yesterday's mess. A little exercised about the insinuation that he was on the take from gravel mining company Glacier Northwest, King County Council Member Phillips knocked over a glass of Diet Coke (state Sen. Fred Jarrett's), which spilled all over Hunter's fine suit.
Phillips, who went right on talking, eventually offered to pay the dry cleaning costs. Hunter declined and said he'd pay for it.
King County Council Member Dow Constantine—Glacier's nemesis and the guy behind the Phillips/Glacier innuendos—stayed dry.
