Today’s picks for civic nerds.

For Sunday:

Sundays are Special

To celebrate the opening of every Seattle Public Library branch on Sundays, every SPL branch will be holding a celebration, featuring kids' crafts, refreshments, and the chance to participate in the Check-In Challenge—a raffle for prizes including Booklovers Baskets and lunch with City Librarian Marcellus Turner.

Sundays are Special Celebrations, Sun Mar 3, 2–3:30pm, locations around the city. Free.

For Saturday:

Prune Those Pesky Plants

Rhododendrons too big? Unruly fruit trees? Overgrown garden? If you suffer from any of these, stop by Sky Nursery and learn your way to a beautiful, weed-free garden during Plant Amnesty's Prune-athon.

Plant Amnesty's 4th Annual Prune-a-Thon, Sat Mar 2, 9-4, Sky Nursery, 18528 Aurora Ave N, Shoreline, free.

For Today:

Metro Termination Trouble

If you ride the bus, you have a stake in what happens to Metro Transit, which faces cuts next year of up to 16 percent. Learn more from Metro general manager Kevin Desmond at Transportation Choices Coalition's Friday forum.

Friday Forum: Bus Cuts for King County Metro?, Fri Mar 1, 12–1pm, 401 Fifth Ave Rm 121, Seattle, free.
