The Republicans aren't only counting on dissident Democratic Sens. Rodney Tom (D-48, Bellevue) and Tim Sheldon (D-35, Potlatch) to give them the numbers to control the state senate this year; they're also counting on volatile state Sen. Pam Roach (R-31, Auburn).

Roach, who was kicked out of the Republican caucus by her colleagues in 2010 due to her reported abusive treatment of staffers and hot temper, has demanded that the Republicans lift the sanctions before she agrees to be part of Sen. Tom's "Majority Coalition" caucus.

It's already looked bad (or desperate) enough for Tom and the Republicans to lift the sanctions given that the sanctions were reaffirmed last year after she reached a settlement with one traumatized staffer.

But Jolt!: the AP reports today that Roach was involved in another heated clash with a staffer last year. The AP reports:

A report says Sen. Pam Roach of Auburn violated the Senate's policy in March by verbally attacking a Senate Republican staffer charged with upholding sanctions against Roach that prevented her from having direct contact with staff. The report was compiled by a subcommittee created last summer solely to investigate incidents involving Roach.

Under Tom's proposal, not only will the sanctions against Roach be lifted, but she's also slated to chair the Government Operations Committee.
