Here's the latest from the state's most closely contested elections: 

Initiative 1240, which would authorize up to 40 charter schools in Washington, is holding a lead of about 45,000 votes (a 51-49 percent margin).

Democrat Jay Inslee holds a 51-49 percent lead over Republican Rob McKenna in the race for governor, a margin of about 42,000 votes. 

The race between Democratic state Rep. Tim Probst (D-17) and state Sen. Don Benton (R-17) for Benton's senate seat remains at a razor-thin margin, with Probst at 50.02 percent and Benton at 49.98 percent. That's a margin of just 16 (!) votes. 

Also in the 17th, state house contender Monica Stonier, a Democrat running for Probst's old seat, has 50.08 percent of the vote to Republican Julie Olson's 49.92 percent—an 81-vote margin. 

In the 47th, Republican Rep. Mark Hargrove maintained a small lead over Democratic challenger Bud Sizemore, with 50.42 percent to Sizemore's 49.58 percent—a margin of 352 votes. 

State Sen. Mary Margaret Haugen (D-10), meanwhile, has conceded to Republican Barbara Bailey after winning just 47 percent of the vote.
