What is the pro-gay marriage campaign, which has raised an impressive $7.7 million vs. the opposition's $900,000, spending its money on?
Their latest expenditure reports are due this week, but the answer appears to be: TV ads.
The campaign, Washington United for Marriage, released two ads today that tack to the same theme: gay marriage is a Christian cause—meaning, the ministry is all in.
In one ad, Rev. Rich Lang of Seattle's University Temple Methodist Church talks about how "the very core of Christianity" caused him to "shift" on the issue and support gay marriage.
In another ad, five different ministers—Rev. Dr. Sanford Brown of Seattle's First United Methodist Church; Rev. Tom Kidd of Bellevue's St. Luke's Lutheran Church; Bishop Grant J. Hagiya of the Pacific Northwest & Alaska Conference of the United Methodist Church; Rev. Jim Patten of Bellevue's Newport Presbyterian Church; and Rev. David Strong of Tacoma's First Congregational Church—endorse R-74 and stress that the law protects religious freedom by allowing churches that don't want to perform gay marriages to have that right.
