One Question for the Inslee Campaign

By Josh Feit September 7, 2012

Today's Cola "One Question" gets bumped by today's unsolicited "One Answer."

From the contentious governor's race: Democrat Jay Inslee's campaign wanted to comment on Rob McKenna campaign manager Randy Pepple's contention that the board of the League of Education Voters—an influential education reform group—quashed a staff recommendation to endorse Republican McKenna before taking the unusual step yesterday of making no endorsement at all.

Our story on the the McKenna campaign's charge is here, with a response from LEV director Chris Korsmo.

Inslee's communications director, Sterling Clifford, the Democratic operative who headed up California Gov. Jerry Brown's campaign communications in 2010, contacted us about Pepple's accusation to say this:
Randy has a secret LEV staffer who really wanted to endorse Rob, the same way I had a secret girlfriend from Canada in the eighth grade.

Just to be clear, Clifford lived in Salt Lake City in the 8th grade.
