People’s Library Opening Day
Budget cuts have forced a one-week shutdown of all Seattle Public Libraries, so for one week, the People’s Library has a monopoly on the book-lending game. Today, they’re celebrating their opening with music for the adults, storytime and crafts for the kids, and snacks for everybody.

Following the pattern of a pair of West Seattle Town Halls from this past spring, Mayor Mike McGinn and staff will answer questions for about an hour and a half after some tabling by local organizations and a brief, mystery performance by a yet-unnamed youth group.

Passing the Torch with the National Women’s Political Caucus
The Washington chapter of the National Women’s Political Caucus is holding a fundraiser tomorrow evening to honor their outgoing legislative champions and introduce their 2012 endorsements. Washington State Senate Majority Leader Lisa Brown is the keynote speaker.

Roosevelt Bike Lane Open House
Tomorrow, the Seattle Department of Transportation is touching base with the Maple Leaf neighborhood about a proposal to add a bike lane on the east side of Roosevelt Way NE between 75th and 85th; the plan would also create more room for buses to pull out of traffic.
