Tacoma Link Light Rail expansion open houses
Find out more about Sound Transit's plans to extend Tacoma Link Light Rail---that's the short (1.6-mile) light rail route that links downtown Tacoma and the TacomaDome---including the various alignments Sound Transit is considering, tomorrow. If you can't make either of tomorrow's meetings in Tacoma, you can fill out a survey on the project or submit comments on Sound Transit's web site; the public comment period ends September 17.

Metropolitan Democratic Club forum: Should Washington have a State Bank?
Join the Metropolitan Democratic Club for a noon forum featuring state treasurer Jim McIntire, commercial real estate consultant Darel Grothaus, and Seattle Port Commissioner Gael Tarleton on the question of whether Washington State should have a publicly owned state bank---an idea, proposed by state Rep. Bob Hasegawa, that gained some traction during this spring's Occupy movement.

It shouldn’t be news to anybody that the Mariners’ Felix Hernandez tossed the first perfect game in franchise history his last time on the mound. It might be news to some, though, that the Mariners are handing out 34,000 commemorative shirts to fans at Tuesday’s game – Felix’s first start since his perfect game – to honor his historic performance.
