PubliCalendar: The Coal Hard Truth

By Duke Sullivan August 14, 2012

Tomorrow's PubliCalendar picks for political nerds.

The Washington Environmental Council's Coal Hard Truth Forum

The Washington Environmental Council has been working with Power Past Coal to raise awareness about what they call an environmentally devastating proposal to build several new freight terminals to export coal from the Rockies to China. If all the terminals are built, Washington and Oregon would eventually export 150 million or more tons of coal every single year. In Bellingham alone, the proposed new terminal would mean as many as 18 round-trip trains every day, with 125 cars per train.

Coal Hard Truth Forum, Wednesday, August 15, 6:30 pm. Cleveland High School, 5511 15th Ave S, Room 1201 Beacon Hill, Free.

And don’t forget about today's PubliCal picks:

“Wine and Choice” with Rep. Marko Liias and NARAL, Tuesday, August 14, 6:30 pm. Free (donations requested).

August Greendrinks, sponsored by BECU, Tuesday, August 14, 5:30 pm, Hunter Farm Gathering Place, 7744 34th Ave NE, Free.
