One Question for Enviro State Rep. Marko Liias

By Josh Feit August 27, 2012

Tropical Storm Isaac is too timely to ignore.

For today's installment of "One Question," we decided to seek out the most objective source we could find to answer the day's most obvious question: Is the big storm roaring through Tampa during the Republican National Convention right now a sign to the GOP that they aren't taking global warming seriously?

Environmental leader and rising Democratic star Rep. Marko Liias (D-21, Edmonds), who ushered through the deal to phase out TransAlta's coal-fired power plant, had this response:
At the end of the day, you can’t ignore science. There is strong evidence that climate change is contributing to more extreme weather around the globe. It is a bit ironic that a party, which has stood in the way of taking action on climate change, would now find itself dealing with the consequences of inaction. Rather than gloat or wish them ill, I hope that this is a wake up call that we need to get serious and take action for the future of the planet.
