1. Rumor: Longtime Gov. Chris Gregoire staffer and the current head of the state's Office of Financial Management, Marty Brown, will be named as the new executive director of the Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges. The SBCTC oversees the system of 34 community and technical colleges statewide, such as Seattle Central Community College.

Question: What experience does Brown have in education?

Fodder (for the Rob McKenna campaign): It's cozy business as usual in Olympia after 30 years of Democratic rule.

2. In addition to the Democratic Obama ticket and the Republican Romney ticket in this year's presidential election, six minor parties qualified to be on the Washington State ballot: the Libertarian Party, the Constitution Party, the Green Party, the Justice Party, the Socialist Workers Party, and (not to be outdone) the Socialism & Liberation Party.

3.The state's Office of Financial Management will be releasing its projections of the impact of this year's initiatives later today.

4. Neither of the two gubernatorial candidates, Democrat Jay Inslee and Republican Rob McKenna, will tell public radio reporter Austin Jenkins who their fundraising table captains, so to speak, are.
