Police Defuse "Incendiary Device" At South Seattle Chase Bank

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee January 6, 2012

The Seattle Police Department's bomb squad defused an "incendiary device" left outside a south Seattle bank this morning.

Police say the device was founder under an ATM outside a Chase Bank near Martin Luther King Jr. Way S. and S. Othello St around 6:30 this morning.

The bomb had "been set, but failed to ignite," according to a statement from the department.

Chase banks have been targeted in a number of protests over the last few months. However, an SPD spokeswoman said she had "not been advised of" any connection between today's attempted bombing and any other protests at banks around Seattle.
