Metro announced this morning that it's canceling dozens of routes due to snow, scaling back other routes, and advising people to avoid traveling "if at all possible" if "major snowfall" occurs.

Metro is also advising riders to be patient, dress warmly, use bus stops on major arterials, and, somewhat alarmingly, to wait at bus stops at the very bottom or the very top of hills, as buses "are often unable to stop for passengers on inclines."

More info about Metro's snow cancellations and reroutes is available on their web site. Updated information on Sound Transit routes, including many cancellations (sorry, Everett), is available here.

Meanwhile, as it did during the last big snowstorm, light rail was operating on schedule early this morning.
