Last City Hall Occupy Protesters Evicted
The last vestiges of the Occupy Seattle protest at City Hall, along with their tents and Port-A-Potty, were evicted from City Hall Plaza on Saturday. According to Department of Executive Administration spokeswoman Kathy Sugiyama, the four remaining campers were asked to leave because the encampment "had become more residential than a free speech exercise." The Occupy protesters had been living in tents on the plaza in front of City Hall for about three months.
The four campers left behind "Assorted tents, tarps and miscellaneous items---enough to fill a pickup truck," Sugiyama says.
Their personal items were collected by the city's maintenance department and are being stored by the city.
