Man In Wheelchair Arrested In Belltown Stabbing

By Josh Feit September 1, 2011

It was a stabby night last night.

About an hour and and half after a two men were slashed and stabbed in an attack in Greenwood, police arrested a wheelchair-bound man for allegedly stabbing another man in Belltown.

Officers arrived at 2nd and Blanchard at about 11:30 p.m. last night and found a 48-year-old man with his shirt pulled over his head, screaming, "I was stabbed by a guy in a wheelchair," according to police.

The victim, who was bleeding from his chest, told police the suspect—the man in the wheelchair—had walked away from the scene through an alley.

Officers found the 33-year-old suspect—back in his wheelchair—who told police he'd gotten into an argument with the victim, which had turned violent.

The victim pushed the suspect out of his wheelchair, and the suspect jumped up on his “good leg” and struck the victim in the chest with an object, leaving a four-inch puncture wound in his chest, police say.

Officers found a knife and a screwdriver on the suspect. He was arrested and booked into the King County Jail.
