Extra Campaign Fizz: Council Money Edition
The campaigns for city council races reported their latest contribution and expenditure totals yesterday. Some highlights:
- Maurice Classen, the deputy King County prosecutor who's running against Jean Godden, reported raising a total of $106,438, with $23,508 on hand as of the end of last month. Bobby Forch, the other frontrunning challenger, reported a total of $57,087, but was $6,506 in debt. And Michael Taylor-Judd, an anti-tunnel challenger who has lagged far behind his better-funded opponents, had raised a total of $16,336, but was $8,327 in debt.
- Godden, meanwhile, had raised a total of $196,189, and had $48,875 on hand. Last month, she wrote checks totaling $23,000 to the Connections Group, consultant Cathy Allen's firm, plus another $2,922 to her fundraiser, McKenna Hartman, and $2,021 to another consulting firm, Left Hook Consulting. The checks paid for everything from consulting services to printing to "production/logistics."
- Incumbent Sally Clark has raised $220,649, and still had $124,849 on hand---enough that she could afford to blow $81, for example, on "parade candy." Her challenger, Dian Ferguson, had raised $46,722, including $19,450 of her own money, but remained $4,984 in the red.
- Incumbent Tom Rasmussen continued to demonstrate his fundraising prowess, reporting a total of $297,087, with $201,343 of that still in the bank. Appropriately, his biggest spend was to fundraiser Colby Underwood, whom he paid $1,900 last month.
