This weekend, Seattle's being taken over by gay pride. In a big way.

And the timing couldn't be better:
Senator Mark J. Grisanti, a Republican from Buffalo, was the 33rd vote for the bill. “I apologize for those who feel offended,” Mr. Grisanti said, adding, “I cannot deny a person, a human being, a taxpayer, a worker, the people of my distri...ct and across this state, the State of New York, and those people who make this the great state that it is the same rights that I have with my wife.”

Thank you New York.

For our part: The nation's largest free gay pride festival is headquartered at Seattle Center. The free music is on Sunday, but if you don't mind paying, there's also a concert on Saturday with recent American Idol alum Crystal Bowersox on the bill.

The 37th annual Pride Parade is on Sunday. It starts at 11 AM at 4th and Union, and heads north down 4th to Denny way. The Space Needle has promised to raise a rainbow flag on Sunday if the community can fundraise $50,000 for charity. To donate, go here.

This is a two day event, so go here for the full schedule.
