Man Stabbed In Cal Anderson Park

Seattle police arrested one man near Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill this afternoon following a stabbing.


Police tell us two men in the park got into an altercation in the park at 11th and Pine around 4:45 p.m., and one of the men pulled a silver object out of his pocket and stabbed the other man in the chest.


The victim is in his 50s, according to SPD.


According to a department source, both the victim and the suspect appear intoxicated. It also appears the victim and suspect know each other.

Update from SPD:



On June 1st at approximately 4:32 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call of a disturbance near 12th Avenue and Howell Street.  Preliminary investigation indicates that the suspect robbed the first victim, a 49-year-old male, at knifepoint near 12th Avenue and Howell Street.  The suspect then fled on foot with the victim’s jacket and money.  


A short time later the suspect got into a physical altercation with a second victim outside Cal Anderson Park (11th Avenue and East Olive Way).  The second victim, also a 49-year-old male, was stabbed in the chest by the suspect.  SFD medics responded to the scene and transported the stabbing victim to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.  


Responding officers located the suspect walking near Cal Anderson Park.  The suspect was detained and positively identified by both victims and also by witnesses.  Officers recovered a knife off the suspect believed to be the one used in the stabbing.


The 24-year-old male suspect was placed under arrest and will be booked into the King County Jail for Investigation of Robbery and Investigation of Assault.
