Extra Fizz: Another Democrat Will Run for Inslee's Seat

By Josh Feit June 1, 2011

Laura Ruderman, famous for being the first Democrat to start the wave that broke the Republicans' lock on the Eastside Seattle suburbs in the late 1990s, (and also famous for being a dogged fundraiser) has announced she will run for U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee's (D-WA, 1) seat if he runs for governor.

Ruderman, who broke the Eastside barrier in 1999 when she won the seat in the 45th Legislative District (Woodinville, Duvall, Carnation, some of Kirkland and Redmond and Sammamish), also ran an unsuccessful campaign for secretary of state in 2004.

Current state Rep. Marko Liias (D-21, Edmonds) has also announced his intentions to run for Inslee's seat if Inslee steps aside to run for governor, as is widely expected.
