Last Night
Conspiracy Theory at the Sports Bar Last Night

NBA history
Last night, I watched the last game of the NBA Finals at Big Mario's Pizza on Pike St., where I've watched most of the NBA playoffs.
We were all rooting for Dallas of course (not because we were hating on LeBron, but because Dallas and Nowitzki dismissed OKC—and even better, Dallas' owner, loose cannon Mark Cuban, was one of the only owners to vote against letting the Sonics leave Seattle.)
It was exciting to hear Franklin High School alum Jason Terry, who was on fire last night— give plenty of shoutouts to his Seattle youth and to his Sonics ball heroes (Slick Watts!).
But the most titillating thing was this (according to the drunk guy that was sitting next to me, anyway): Did you notice that in the historic NBA finals photos they kept showing when they cut to commercials—in addition to showing Michael Jordan, and Kareem Abdul Jabbar and Magic v. Bird (all the classics)—they also kept showing a still photo from the obscure (sorry) 1979 NBA finals?
Now, why would they keep showing that, my drunk friend kept asking. Sikma vs. Unseld? I mean, seriously, could more than 1000 people watching the game even identify that photo?
This, I was informed, was a message from the NBA. They've got Seattle on their minds.
