Harrell Opponent Kicks Off Campaign

By Erica C. Barnett June 13, 2011

I didn't make it out to Bruce Harrell opponent Brad Meacham's kickoff (c'mon, it was blocks from my house and it was a Sunday
) but here's the post-kickoff report from Meacham himself (he was also kind enough to send pictures): About 100 folks showed up from around the city, and the menu consisted of Geraldine's mac & cheese, salad and desserts.

From the photos, I spot local notables Craig Benjamin (Environmental Priorities Coalition), Yusuf Cabdi (United African Public Affairs), Brice Maryman (landscape architect and big McGinn supporter), Elizabeth Siegal (Institute for a Democratic Future), Sandy Cioffi (filmmaker and Tom Rasmussen opponent), and Cary Moon (People's Waterfront Coalition).

Last week, Meacham told me he doesn't want to be known as the "anti-tunnel candidate." However, it's worth noting that most of the folks listed above are well-known opponents of the tunnel.

Meacham's campaign folks haven't finished tallying their take yet, but Meacham estimates it was "probably a few thousand" dollars.
