Politico: 2012 Governor's Race Gets National Nod

By Andrew Calkins May 31, 2011

The local media has been pretty eager for the 2012 governor's race to start. Josh even trudged over to the UW to watch dueling classroom appearances last month by Attorney General Rob McKenna and  by U.S. Rep. Jay Inslee
.

The PI's Chris Grygiel is also already amped up
about the pending race.

Maybe they're on to something. Bigwig national politics blog Politico has a post up today
listing the "top 10 most competitive governor races" in 2012. Coming in at number two: Washington State, where Politico predicts that a matchup between Republican frontrunner Rob McKenna and likely Democratic candidate Jay Inslee will get some considerable attention from "national parties and outside interests."

Inslee hasn't done too well in the polls lately, Catanese reminds us—the latest SurveyUSA poll had Mckenna winning over Inslee 48-41. And McKenna may be a mostly unchallenged candidate if Congressman Dave Reichert opts to hold his position in congress on the house ways and means committee.
