PI: Yellow Pages Companies Lose in Court Again

By Erica C. Barnett May 25, 2011

The PI reports that the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled against a motion by several yellow-pages companies to temporarily halt Seattle's new law allowing residents to opt out of phone-book delivery to their homes. That law passed the city council unanimously last year, and went into effect
at the beginning of May.

This is the third time a court has ruled against the yellow-pages companies, which argue that allowing people to tell the city they don't want to receive phone books violates their First Amendment right to free speech.
