The Morning Blotter: Woman Tells Cops She Broke Mugger's Nose In Central District Robbery

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee April 13, 2011

One woman dished out some street justice on a mugger last weekend after he attacked her and tried to steal her purse as she was leaving her Central District church.

A police report says the woman left her church around 1:30 p.m. and was walking to her car, parked at 19th and E Spring, when the suspect walked up behind her and tried to grab her bag.

The woman held on to her purse, but was knocked around as she struggled with the man.

Still, the woman refused to let go of her purse.

A police report says the woman then turned around and punched the suspect in the face "several times."

The woman told police she believes she broke the suspect's nose, and that he quickly backed off when he realized he had blood running down his face.

The suspect fled northbound, and the woman went home and called police.

Sometimes the good guys win.
