By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee April 8, 2011

A University District resident was attacked and nearly robbed outside his apartment building while he was taking out the trash last week, according to a police report.

Around 11 p.m. on March 31st, the man was breaking down cardboard boxes by a dumpster in the alley behind his apartment complex—on NE 43rd and 11th Ave NE—when a man walked up to him, and punched him in the mouth.

The suspect knocked the victim to the ground, and tried to reach into the victim's pocket, but the man was able to fight the suspect off.

The suspect fled without taking anything. According to the report, he never said a word during the attack.
