Prosecutors File Charges In Beacon Hill Sex Assault

A SKing County prosecutors contend Emilio Robert Hernandez, 45, attacked [a 63-year-old woman] without provocation late last year on Beacon Hill. Hernandez is alleged to have made off with her purse; he was arrested on March 4, a day after DNA from the scene was found to be his.


According to charging documents, the woman was walking in the 1700 block of South Angeline Street when Hernandez approached her from behind just before 6 p.m. on Dec. 28.

The woman attempted to walk away from Hernandez, but he closed the distance and forced her into an abandoned property, where he sexually assaulted her, a Seattle detective told the court. As she struggled with him, Hernandez is alleged to have grabbed her purse and fled.

A passing UPS driver stopped to assist the woman and called the police. Officers responding to the scene noted that she had been brutally beaten.
