McGinn Bolsters the Status Quo
One thing today's Elway Poll results on the three-way quagmire between the viaduct replacement options show us is this: Mayor Mike McGinn has squandered
his seventh-floor bully pulpit over the last year and a half—making the case against the tunnel instead of making the case for the surface/transit option.
Partly as a result, we're right where we were a year ago , with none of the options—the rebuild, the tunnel, and the green surface/transit option---enjoying majority support. Worse, the least green option, the rebuild, is still in the lead and the surface/transit option is dead last. That's where we were when McGinn took office in 2010.
Rather than using his clout to challenge the status quo (namely, educating people on the surface/transit option), he's spent his time keeping the status quo in place: Everybody's still against everything.

I thought McGinn was about changing the status quo. Nope. It's still Seattle. Let's not do anything.
