In response to a string of suicides among bullied gay teens, The Stranger's editorial director, Dan Savage, created a transcendent and empowering YouTube phenomenon: The It Gets Better Project.

Together with his partner, Terry Miller, Savage shared his experience of surviving bigotry and finding solace in learning that he was not alone. The concept went so viral, with more than 10,000 people sharing their stories (even Barack Obama made one), that Savage spun it off into a book.

Tonight, he and Miller will read selections from It Gets Better, and talk about tolerance 2.0.

7:30 pm, Town Hall, 1119 Eighth Ave, $5 [17 and under free].
