Fireworks Expected at Monday Bellevue Council Meeting
Fireworks are likely at Monday's meeting of the Bellevue City Council, where residents are expected to turn out in force to ask city council member Kevin Wallace---who failed to disclose a potential deal with GNR Railway to run freight rail up his preferred light rail route through Bellevue that could have benefited him financially---to resign or recuse himself from votes about Eastside light rail in the future.
As head of Wallace Properties, Wallace owns numerous properties along the light-rail route he has pushed for as a council member, which would run along abandoned BNSF right-of-way on the east side of Bellevue, avoiding existing jobs and population centers.
Two other rumors: First, that the council may (by a pro-Wallace 4-3 majority vote) suspend public comment to prevent people from speaking out against Wallace. And second: That the pro-Wallace contingent could propose that the investigation be expanded to include additional council members, including Wallace's nemesis, Claudia Balducci.
Should be an interesting show.
