Godden, Other Council Members Raising Formidable Amounts of Cash

By Erica C. Barnett February 11, 2011

Defying rumors that she planned to withdraw from the race for city council and let 2008 Nick Licata opponent Jessie Israel run for her position, city council member Jean Godden raised nearly $10,000 in the last month, according to campaign finance reports she released yesterday. That number includes contributions from the Mariners ($700), former deputy mayor Tim Ceis ($250), local author and philanthropist (and Paccar heir) Judy Pigott ($100), Eastside developer Bob Wallace ($100), and consultant Lynn Claudon ($100), and hefty $20 from  Seattle Port Commissioner Gael Tarleton.

With last month's contributions, Godden has raised a total of $79,000, with $47,000 on hand.

As we noted yesterday
, Godden has four opponents. Of the four, only one---Michael Taylor-Judd---has reported any contributions. Taylor-Judd, a former monorail advocate and transit campaigner, has raised $250 and has loaned himself $2,500.

In other 2011 council races, incumbent Bruce Harrell raised $15,000 in the last month, bringing his total raised to $113,000 (with $89,000 on hand); Harrell's opponent, former Muni League chair Brad Meacham, has raised $8,300 (with $6,700 on hand); incumbent Tom Rasmussen raised $5,900 in the last month, bringing his total to $164,000  (with $138,000 on hand); incumbent Tim Burgess raised $16,000 in the last month, bringing his total to $140,000 (with $98,000 on hand); and incumbent Sally Clark raised $1,900 in the last month, bringing her total to $121,000 (with $102,000 on hand).

None of the remaining candidates reported any money raised.
