Bungling Burglar Busted In Bathtub

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee February 22, 2011

From SPD:

Initially units were responding to an occupied burglary that occurred on or between 11:00 pm-2:00 a.m., at a residence in the 5000 block of 15 Av NE while residents were sleeping.

Some units were re-routed to another occupied burglary that just occurred at a residence in the 5200 block of 16 Av NE. At this second address the victim stated a suspect was hiding in the bathroom.

Officers quickly arrived and found the suspect hiding in the bath-tub. The suspect was taken into custody without incident. The suspect was found to have a significant laceration on his ankle caused by broken glass from the first burglary location.

A digital camera taken from the first burglary was found at the second location very near the suspect. The 27-year-old suspect was taken to UW Hospital by AMR for treatment of his injuries. He was later booked into King County Jail for Investigation of Burglary.
