Woman Has New Cellphone For, Like, Three Minutes Before Robber Takes It

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee January 4, 2011

Around 6:30pm on December 27th, a woman flagged down officers at 1st and Pike and said a man had stolen a phone she had just purchased.

The woman told police she was walking down the street talking on her new phone* when a man came up behind her and snatched the phone from her hand.

The man then ran off.

The woman chased the suspect but wasn't able to catch up to him.

Officers called the cellphone, which went straight to voice mail.

However, the report notes that the suspect dropped a stereo faceplate as he fled the scene. Police took the faceplate to check it for fingerprints.

*Do phones come charged in the box now? Was there ever a time when they didn't? I feel like such an old person asking that question.
