By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee January 18, 2011

A man armed with mace and a belt chased another man through a downtown parking lot last week after the victim refused to give the man any change, according to a police report.

Around 2:30am on January 11th, the victim was walking through the lot on 1st and Lenora, when the suspect approached him and asked for spare change.

When the victim refused to give the man any money, the suspect pulled out a can of mace and sprayed the victim.

The victim blocked the stream with his arm and tried to run away, but the suspect chased after him, swinging his belt.

The victim managed to flag down officers near the parking lot, and police intervened.

Officers took custody of the suspect, who was unable to explain to officers why he was carrying his belt, the report says.

Officers also recovered a can of mace in the parking lot.

Police booked the suspect into the King County Jail for assault.
