UW Students Warned About Armed Robbery Near Campus

UW sent out this warning to students today after a woman was robbed at gunpoint near campus yesterday evening: 

On Thursday, December 16, 2010 at approximately 10:30 p.m., a male suspect approached a female student on the southwest corner of 19th Ave N.E. and N.E. 52 St. The suspect grabbed the victim by the neck and pointed a handgun at the back of her head. He demanded her purse but ended up taking only the IPOD from her pocket. The robbery was interrupted by two witnesses. The suspect ran southbound from N.E. 52nd St. in the alley between 19th Ave. N.E. and 18th Ave. N.E.  He was seen getting into a white or light colored 1990’s mid-sized sedan; the vehicle fled the area.  The suspect was described as having an athletic build, dark complexion, 5’10” in height, 19-20 years of age, wearing a black zip-up jacket, black pants, and a scarf.
