City Hall
Predictions for 2011
Here are my predictions for 2011:
1) Contrary to what Josh said on KUOW this afternoon, not one city council member will be ousted over their position on the tunnel. Not even close. (Jean Godden and Bruce Harrell may get contenders, but unless one has the name recognition of, say, Jean Godden, they'll get clobbered). The feared McGinn "slate" of council candidates will prove as elusive as the council "slates" former mayor Nickels was supposedly planning every two years.
2) Nickelsville, the homeless encampment, will not find a permanent home until the second half of the year at the earliest, as cleanup at the proposed Georgetown site proves trickier and more expensive than predicted.
3) And, going out on a limb here: The tunnel, story of the year in 2010, will still be the story of the year at the end of 2011.
