The Morning Blotter: Knife-Wielding Man Attacks Woman On Burke Gilman Trail

By Jonah Spangenthal-Lee November 23, 2010

A woman told police she was attacked on the Burke Gilman Trail last week by a man who jumped out of the bushes and slashed her, according to a police report.

The woman was walking along the Burke Gilman near Fremont—near 5th NE and NE Northlake Way—around 8:00pm on November 18th when a man "jumped out of the woods and cut her with a serrated knife he was wielding," the report says.

The woman sustained several cuts on her finger.

The man—described as a white male, 5'8, with blond hair, clean shaven, and wearing a black jacket, —appeared intoxicated and said nothing during the attack. The woman told police he was armed with a four-inch folding serrated knife.

It took the woman 20 minutes to contact police after the assault, and officers weren't able to locate the suspect.
