On Other Blogs Today: City Hall is an "Enemy of Business"
1. The Washington Ledge tallies
this year's "initiative bonanza." $54 million raised so far to support and oppose the six statewide initiatives.
2. The Tacoma News Tribune's Political Buzz blog reports that in the past two weeks, unions have given more than $450,000 to political consultant Moxie Media to support primarily Democratic legislative candidates.
3. The Seattle Times covers a story PubliCola has been a little obsessed with ourselves: Undisclosed donors are pouring millions into Washington State campaigns, most of them targeting US Sen. Patty Murray.
4. Over on Slog, King County Executive Dow Constantine writes a guest post supporting King County Proposition 1, which would raise the county sales tax 0.2 percent. (Totally agree with Constantine. Last week, we endorsed the measure with a PubliCola "No Brainer.")
5. Crosscut covers a perhaps-unintended consequence of the tax on sugary soda: Sodas that are low in sugar, such as Seattle-based Dry Soda, aren't exempt.
6. The Puget Sound Business Journal polls its readers on whether City Hall is "business friendly." Spoiler alert: Fully 93 percent say the city is either "unfriendly" or an "enemy" of business.
7. The Washington News Council profiles Mark Matassa, a longtime journalist who joined Mayor Mike McGinn's office as his communications director earlier this year.
